Mom's recipe - Beef in Wine Sauce

4 lbs beef, cut into cubes
garlic powder
2 cans condensed mushroom soup
1 envelop onion soup mix
3/4 cup dry sherry
1 can sliced mushrooms
1 bag frozen sliced carrots
Sprinkle meat lightly with garlic powder Put in heavy casserole dish. Mix together remaining ingredients (except carrots) and pour over meat. Mix well, cover and bake at 326F for 2 hours or until meat is tender. Add carrots during the last 20 minutes of cooking. 

Mom's recipe - Swedish potatoes

4-5 large potatoes - cooked and mashed
1 pkg cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
1-2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup bacon bits
Spoon into casserole dish after whipping. Put bread crumbs soaked in butter on top and bake at 400F for 20 mins. Before baking can be kept in the fridge for 2-3 days. 

Mom's recipe - pizza dough

1 cup lukewarm water
1 tsp sugar
1 envelope yeast
Let stand for 10 minutes
Then stir in:
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup oil
1 1/2 cup flour
Beat until smooth and add 1 1/2 flour. Let rise until doubled, about 45 mins. Cook at 400F for 25 mins.

Mom's recipe - Veal Parmigiana


1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 parmesan
1/2 tsp salt
1 lb veal scallops or cutlets
2 tbsp flour
1 egg
3 tbsp oil
6 oz mozzarella 
1 can tomato sauce
Mix crumbs, parm and salt. dredge4 veal with flour, dip in egg, coat with crumbs. Heat oil in large pan - brown veal. Place in 8x8x2" pan. Cover veal with mozza cheese , pour tomato sauce over. Bake at 350F for 10 mins.


Mom's Recipe - sauce for sweet and sour meatballs


1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp dry mustard

Mom's recipe - Marinade for Chicken


1 pint vinegar
1/2 pint water
1/2 lb butter
1 oz salt
Soak & baste.

Mom's Recipe - Broccoli, Cheese, Chicken Casserole


Mix 1 1/2 cups each:
minute rice
grated cheese
broccoli
sliced mushrooms
cooked chicken
Stir in 1 can each of cream of mushroom soup and milk
Cover and microwave on high for 10 minutes. Stirring once. Let stand covered 5 minutes.

Mom's Recipe - Cheesy Baked Bread


8 oz cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
16b oz old cheddar cheese
4 oz chopped green chillies
green onions
1 cup chopped ham
1/2 lb bacon chopped
1 round bread loaf, hollowed out

Mix 1st 7 ingredients and put in the hollowed out bread. Bake at 350F uncovered for 1 hour.

Mom's Recipe - Veggie Pizza


2 tubes crescent rolls
1 8oz cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
2/3 cup mayo
1 tsp dill
3 tsp parsley
2 green onion
12 clove garlic
(of just do powdered Ranch dressing)

Spread crescent rolls on cookie sheet. Bake 10 mins at 350F. Cool.
Mix the other ingredients together and spread on the baked crescent rolls.

Chop up broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, snap peas and such. Sprinkle over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle shredded cheddar over. Cut in squares and love.

Mom's Recipe - Bruschetta


8 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup mayo
Spread on a baguette

2 large garlic cloves
salt and pepper
1/3 cup olive oil
6-8 tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp basil
Spread on the cream cheese layer
Sprinkle with parmesan and mozzarella. Broil. 


Family favourite. Also good on a Pilsbury Crescent Roll base.

Mom's Recipe - Hollow Bread Crab & Shrimp Dip


1 pkg cream cheese
1/2 - 3/4 cup mayo
1 medium onion
1 can crab meat
1 can shrimp
1/2 lb shredded cheddar
2 tsp dill

Mix together. Put in a hollow loaf. Wrap in several layers of tinfoil. Bake at 300F for 3 hours. With with bagels and the inside of the hollow bread. 

Mom's Recipe - Stuffed Jalapeno Pitas


1 package mini pitas, cut in half
1/4 cup margarine
1/2 cup onion, finely diced
1 pkg cream cheese
8 strips bacon
1 medium tomato, seeded and diced
1 jalapeno, finely diced - to taste

Cook onion in margarine in the microwave. Add cream cheese and zap until creamy. Add the rest, stir - stuff pita halves. Warm in oven to serve.


Auntie Shelley makes these the best. Their Splurge club loved them and now my Splurge club loves them too. Family favourite. 

Mom's recipe - Greek appetizer


8 oz cream cheese
8 oz feta
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp oregano
Mix with mixer until well blended

2 tomatoes, diced 
1 medium English cucumber, chopped
3 green onions
10 black olives
Lay on a pie place. Serve with pitas.


Mom's Recipe - Artichoke Dip


1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 tbsp onion, grated
1 cup mayo
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp parmesan 
1 can artichokes, drained, rinsed, chopped
salt and white pepper
sprinkle with paprika
Bake at 350F for 15-20 mins
Serve with hot pita bread chips

Mom's Recipe - Steiner's Crab Dip


6 oz crab flavoured pollock - Marinate in lemon juice then drain.
8 oz cream cheese
1/3 cup mayo
1 tbsp minced green onion
1 tsp parsley
1/4 tsp salt
dash garlic powder

Mom's Recipe - Layered Salad


1 head lettuce
1 cup diced celery
1 cup diced pepper
4 hard boiled eggs - diced
1 10oz package frozen peas
1 medium onion - diced
Layer. Then mix:
2 cups mayo
2 tbsp sugar
and spread over the layers. Sprinkle 4oz grated cheddar cheese.



This sounds so retro!

Mom's Recipe - Batter


1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
3/4 cup milk
1 egg - beaten
1 tbsp melted margarine or butter

Blend, coat veggies like onions and mushrooms.
Deep fry and be happy. 

Mom's Recipe - Schwarty's Potatoes


2 lbs Hashbrown Potatoes
500mg Sour Cream
2 cans mushroom soup
1 grated onion
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups of grated cheddar cheese

Mix and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake at 350F for 1.5 hours (longer if cold).

Family favourite. Mom liked it because you could make it ahead and it was easy.
